To participate in the exam, candidates must:

·        Have graduated from high school or possess a high school equivalency diploma;

·        Have reached their 19th birthday as of the date of the written examination;

·        Have not reached their 35th Birthday as of the date of the written examination;

·        Live in Nassau, Suffolk, Queens or Westchester Counties; and

·        File an application with the appropriate fee or fee waiver during the application filing period.

To be appointed from the eligible list, candidates must:

·                                 Possess 120 college credits;

·                                 Have reached their 20th birthday;

·                                 Possess a valid New York State Driver’s License (with no restrictions);

·                                 Be a U.S. Citizen; and

·                                 Be a resident of Glen Cove at the time the eligible list is established.

Note: Conviction of a felony will bar and conviction of a misdemeanor may bar a candidate from appointment.
